Note: This version differs from the standard first edition in that the front endpapers are black with the ffep featuring a cartoon of a postcard and pen. The postcard is signed (not printed) by Kazuo Ishiguro and Bianca Bagnarelli. In addition, the dustjacket ISBN is not only different but is a non-existent title according to the official ISBN register. Copies of this version were initially only available on pre-order to Faber Members in the UK.

Quarter bound in pink cloth with dark grey boards boards and no text on the front board; down the spine in black ‘KAZUO ISHIGURO THE SUMMER WE CROSSED EUROPE IN THE RAIN Lyrics for Stacey Kent ff(logo)’. ISBN 978-0-571-37887-6. Signed by Kazuo Ishiguro and Bianca Bagnarelli to the limitation page and hand numbered. Limited edition copies, numbered 1-100, were made available for sale and 10 copies, numbered i-x were reserved for the author and illustrator. There is no dustjacket, as issued.
Slipcase. 232mm x 148mm. Red cloth covered slipcase with a print of a cartoon (a couple in the rain reflected in a puddle) set in an indentation on the front.
Note: One binder’s copy has been recorded (MW collection). This is unnumbered but signed by Kazuo Ishiguro and Bianca Bagnarelli to the limitation page. The spine of the book is blank with no text. Laid in is a loose copy of the print used on the issued slipcase. The slipcase is the same as the issued version.
